The effective solution for the debridement of chronic and acute wounds

Difficult wounds: barriers to healing

A “difficult wound” is defined as any wound which, following a proper standard of care, has not improved by

after 4 weeks

the main barrier to healing: Biofilm

it is estimated that 60-100% of chronic wounds contain biofilm

Biofilm is recognized as the primary barrier to healing in most chronic wounds (malone et al 2017). Once removed, the biofilm is able to reform rapidly (48-72 hours) (2). The association between the biofilm and the chronicization of the lesion is now proven.

"Only a clean wound can heal"

What is wound debridement?

Debridement is a fundamental part of wound management.” Debridement refers to the removal of bacterial load from the wound bed, but also to the treatment of the wound edges and surrounding skin.

“Debridement is a procedure to be repeated (Maintenance debridement): The chronic wound contains a series of microbial and biochemical abnormalities that inhibit or slow down the healing process, despite an apparently adequate bed. Therefore, repeated removal of necrotic tissue appears to be necessary during the life of the wound, even when traditional debridement may not seem necessary due to an apparently “healthy” wound.

Ucs debridement: 4 actions of success

UCS Debridement - 4 azioni di successo - Poloxamer

POLOXAMER

Poloxamer

It deep cleans, breaks down biofilm structures and removes necrotic tissue, allowing for better penetration of other topical treatments such as antibiotic or antimicrobial solutions. Prevents biofilm re-formation thanks to its long-lasting effect. Poloxamer has been shown to aid healing at the cellular level and is not harmful to healthy cells (Percival 2019, et al).
UCS Debridement - 4 azioni di successo - Allantoina

ALLANTOIN

Allantoin

It is a known keratolytic (softens hard, dry hyperkeratotic skin) and continues to work after debridement improving skin integrity.
UCS Debridement - 4 azioni di successo - Aloe Vera

ALOE VERA

aloe vera

It contains antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins A and C and has a highly anti-inflammatory and moisturizing effect on the periwound skin
UCS Debridement - 4 azioni di successo - UCS Debridement Garza / Guanto

INNOVATIVE FABRIC

The unique ring technology captures and breaks down the biofilm within the wound bed, and avoids bacterial redistribution elsewhere in the wound bed (Gilles, 2016)

It has been demonstrated that aging cells no longer respond to growth factors and one of the obvious signs of non-healing is represented by the edge which, over time, fails to proceed towards wound healing, the undermined edge can be a sign of colonization or infection. The operator must assess the patient’s hydration status with particular attention to the periwound skin for:

  • • Maintain/restore the integrity of the periwound skin.
  • • Early identification of the onset of problems such as: dermatitis/eczema, allergies, xerosis, maceration, hyperkeratosis, bandage damage, atrophy.
  • • Treat the periwound skin according to its characteristics.
  • • Prevent the onset of secondary ulcers
  • • The removal of scaly skin in order to reduce infections of the deep layers of the skin and improve skin hydration.
